Questions doing with land,job and money?

Okay well me and my friend are wanting to live together in possibly a farm somewhere with no real bad national disasters if there are any at all so what are some good places with almost no national disasters that are good for a farm. I'm playing to be a vet and she wants to be a teacher so how well do those jobs pay and would it be good enough to pay for a farm? We aren't planning to buy a farm right away just after a few years or possibly when we retire.
