Christian Counseling Career and Education Questions?

I have been looking into a career in Christian Counseling. Some also call it a Lay Counselor. I would really like to work in a Church and counsel there. I have found an accredited school through the military. I am an Army Wife using the Post 9/11 GI Bill and they found a University that is accredited and real. The degree I'm interested in is a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Counseling. Its a Non-Clinical Counseling Degree. From what I understand from the N.C.C.A, (National Christian Counselor Association) I would then be able to go through them, once I've completed the Bachelor Degree, and work on a Masters Degree and then could take the test for certification. I am curious if anyone has dones this? If there are any Christian Counselors out there, on here, that could give me any advice or information? The University the Military pointed me to is, Mid-Continent University. From some research I've done, certification requirements for Christian Counseling, vary from state to state. This is why I think it would be best to move forward in receiving my Masters degree. I really would like to be a Christian Counselor. I do NOT want to be a regular Psychiatrist, Psycologist, or Counselor. I really want it to be a Christian based counseling job. Anyone have any tips or advice? From what I understand, you do not have to have a "clinical" education when it involves the Church. Nothing you do before high school counts for college, and MIT will limit you to listing 5 activities or less. You need to make those 5 count. The best thing you can do for those schools (besides high grades and test scores, which everyone has) is to get involved in your future major now. I assume that's science (if it's engineering, Stanford, Michigan, Purdue, Cornell, and others are better than Harvard) - get an internship during the summer at NASA, or MIT, or one of the others that offer research opportunities for high school students. Get some research done, hopefully published. That's the kind of thing students applying for top schools have on their resumes - something that makes you stand out a bit.

I am getting increasingly concerned though with snagging an internship (which you have to do to become an RD) at the end of my program. I have always been interested also in becoming a certified lactation consultant. I feel the two go hand in hand. My question is if I complete the dietetic program (bachelors in science with a major in dietetics) without doing the internship (thus no RD status) and complete the required certified lactation consultant courses (let's say I pass the courses and the national exam) would I have an issue finding employment? I would be an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) but not an RD (Registered Dietitian). Thanks for any advice. It will take a lot longer to finish school with doing the dietetic internship and I would like to start working sooner.

How is it possible to feel intense pain as a result of emotion?

Growing up, I began to repress most every emotion. I'm a quiet person now, and no one can easily tell when I'm sad or angry. I kind of just got used to blocking things that bothered me. Now, I have a lot of anxiety issues that I'm sure are a result of this repressing behavior. I have never really trusted anyone enough to let them in and actually talk about anything deep. I began talking to a friend, and I've made a lot of progress in this area. Recently, I "let down the wall" that was holding in a lot of these emotions and memories and since have been feeling actual pain. How is this possible? The first time I tried to talk to him about an unpleasant experience I had been repressing, I felt so much pain in my chest, I couldn't speak. Now, a few days later, the pain comes back when I think about that memory that I had blocked. It's sudden. It's a different kind of pain. I guess since I've guarded myself since I was young to actually feeling anything like this, maybe I'm just not used to it? Do normal people have this manifestation of emotion in the form of real and crushing physical pain? It's very quick, but it takes my breath away. I really do hate it, but ever since I "opened up" I am experiencing this feeling many many times a day. Will it go away? Sorry, as I'm typing this, I realize I sound like some emotionless robot, but I was really numb to everything before a few days ago. I honestly don't know what to do. I would appreciate any insight.

I'm a crew chief with air national guard..but I don't know what to major in for college?

As I've already said, i am a crew chief for the Ohio Air National Guard, and they automatically enroll you in what's called the CCAF (community college of the air force) and most of the credits are transferable to state accredited colleges....so I'm completely unsure of what majors I could go for that would accept these credits.. Keep in mind that crew chief is under aerospace maintenance, so I was thinking of majoring in aviation...but do you guys have another suggestion??

Disturbing behavior in child.?

First, let me say that I realize that no opinions or advice I get here should substitute for a professional opinion. Now that I have gotten my little disclaimer out of the way, here is my situation: I have an 11-year-old Stepson who displays certain behaviors that I find to be a bit odd. First, he displays odd physical manifestations, He never wants to go outside. However, when he does he paces back and forth swinging his arms, while making noises with his mouth. He displays a complete lack of any awareness of social cues. It is bad enough that because he does not pick up on non-verbal signals, people are sometimes forced (reluctantly) to be a bit rude to him because he does not seem to pickup on subtle communication. When he comes up to me to talk, he gets so close that I have to physically place him at arms length and then explain to him (over and over) about personal space. He displays a total disregard for the needs and even safety of others so that he can get what he wants. For example, just a few months ago a new video game had been released that he wanted. His mother explained to him that the roads were too unsafe to drive on and he would have to wait. His response was to ask her if I could just go. He does not treat me with any respect at all. There have been times when I thought we were making progress. I would sit down and talk to him and tell him that I was there for him, etc., he would cry and I would think things would be better, we finally had a mutual respect and the next day he is back to his old self. He shows zero appreciation for anything people do for him or anything people buy for him, acting as if it is his just due. However, my biggest concern is his complete lack of empathy. After having observed him and his lack of any reaction when exposed to emotionally provocative imagery, I had him take an empathy test. His score was a 30, which, according to the test instructions, was very low. Please know that I am aware that I am no expert, but I am intelligent and observant enough to realize that something just isn't right here. Also know that there are many more example I could give, but I narrowed them down. Please give me any opinions or advice you can.

I have suffered from palpitations and doctors have always said it is caused by anxiety.I take medications for my anxiety as well as for my other illnesses.
