National Merit Finalist?

I'm in 8th grade and I took the PSAT and got a score of 123. I want to be a National Merit Finalist one day. I was wondering if i need to be gifted to be able to do that. BTW when i took the PSAT I did not read all the paragraphs and basically just skim through it. I feel like I can do better.
